Cairn
They are left a little scruffier than a westy and while compared to the
westie you take the funishings down on the legs a little more and leave
longer on the back and neck, hand stripped about an inch of coat. Unlike a
westy they want them to look long and low, so they leave more coat under
the neck and chest and longer behind the haunches than a westy. BUT I have
seen top pro handlers show them with as sharply defined heads as a westie
and as short on the body and win just fine.
The two I hand strip, retired Ch's in a pet home, don't want all the coat
under the neck and flaring off the chest and their breeder thinks thats
fine, he just hates to see them come from pet groomers looking like
schnauzers.
So A westie clip isn't really that far off on a pet I think.
