I absolutely adore the Japanese style pet poodle trim. Just thought I'd share some pictures in case some of your clients should request the trim.

That is kinda cute. Might be something to suggest for those poodle owners that don't want their dog to look like a Poodle.

Well, it's basically leaving the entire muzzle area kind of like a bichon but with a closer top knot. It's like a bichon/poodle puppy cut but with close cut ears.

My clients usually request American style poodle feet and and tail but the Japanese pet poodle head. The dogs look really cute and they get a lot of attention.

Wow thanks! The shop is my dream come true and I've put everything I have into making it reality.

I've only been a groomer for 2 years so I'm definetly planning to go to Intergroom!

I hope you do try the trim on your poodle, I'd love for the style to become a trend!

Of course, feel free to post the pics. The credit should go to http://www.d-place.jp

There are other clips featured on their Photo BBS but my favorite is the pet poodle trims.

I think it's cute! Next time someone lets me "do my thing" I will try this.

vivilee, I like your shop too! You have done well for being a groomer of 2 years, congratulations. I like your choice in foods and am happy to see you educate your clients in good nutrition for their dogs. I do wonder though, are the treats wheat and corn free? A few snacks won't kill'em any way, huh? Keep up the good work.

rls - yes, all the treats that I carry are wheat, corn and soy free. None of my products have questionable meat sources. As well, nothing I carry has synthetic vitamin K (menadione) either. I'm well read on nutrition. www dot dogfoodproject dot com is my bible.

I'm glad that this poodle style appeals to so many groomers here!

You bet it does! I HATE clipping clean feet so for every one that I can convert over to this trim I will be a much happier groomer!

I enjoyed your site, too. Your store is really nice. Next time I'm in the GTA I'll drop by to say hello. Have you ever read Give Your Dog A Bone? If you enjoyed the dotfoodproject site, you might like the book (it is based on RAW feeding). That pelted blk/pepper sch (?) cross sure looks like a different dog after his smoothie! You can barely see his tan markings in the first pic.... Bet he felt 100% better getting all that matted hair off!

I thought it was funny that on your site you state that you groom longhaired hamsters & gp's, Angora bunnies, but no cats! lol

Hey thanks for the kudos.

The pelted dog is apparently a Cocker/Poodle cross and it was unbelievable how much hair came off that dog. It was such a sweet dog too who LOVES getting brushed and bathed--any attention. So cute.

And yes, I used to breed hamsters and I've owned gp's and bunnies so I'm familiar with their caretaking.

No cats, no way. I've groomed 2 cats and although good cats, I was so stressed out I felt like throwing up the whole time.

I groom Chows! Isn't that just as scary as cats?

Yes, from my experience grooming chows can be just as scary as grooming cats. They are both difficult for me to read. I don't groom either anymore. But a good friend of mine is really into chows and is looking into finding a nice boy to show.

I think you'll like the book. You can buy it online or at Chapters. You may also like the book Raw Meaty Bones. I was lucky and found four books on dog nutrition in perfect condition at a used book store, all 4 for $30! You couldn't even tell they'd been used.

Happy grooming

Vivilee, I'm coming to Toronto with some friends on the 23rd, doing some shopping in Kensington Village and then going to a concert. I know you'll be really busy grooming that day, but by any chance are you anywhere near downtown Toronto? If you're shop is close to downtown I'd love to drop by (but I'll be on foot!).
